Leopard’s Leap has been a sponsor of the Open Book Festival since its inception and this year, to celebrate the partnership, they have launched a wine label design competition.
Entrees will create a label for a bottle of Leopard’s Leap wine that showcases the distinct elements of Open Book and Leopard’s Leap and which includes both logos. Judges will be looking for a design that balances art, literature and wine.
The competition opened on 1 July and will run until 3 August 2015. The winner of the competition will receive a cash prize of R20 000 and 12 cases of labelled wine. The design will also be used by Leopard’s Leap on digital platforms including Facebook, Twitter, website homepages, blog article, newsletters and e-mail banners.
Prize include the following:
The judging panel includes highly influential book cover designer, Joey Hifi, the Co-Curator of Comics Fest and respected artist, Su Opperman, and of course the CEO of Leopard’s Leap, Hein Koegelenberg (who will ensure that the artwork is in line with the brand’s specifications).
Mervyn Sloman, Open Book Festival Director, says: “South Africa’s design talent is inspiring. We see this each year at the Comic Fest Marketplace, which takes place on the weekend of the festival. We want to grow the exposure for young talent, and this collaboration with Leopard’s Leap gives us that chance. We encourage all artists to enter!”
The winner of the design competition will be announced at the Open Book Festival opening bash at the Book Lounge on 8 September, where their winning design will be displayed on the wine served.
